Carbon steel sheet metal is well-known due to its robust nature and cost-effectiveness. Made up of iron and carbon, its properties differ based on the amount of carbon present. Increased carbon content improves strength, but ductility decreases. Carbon steel sheets are widely used in construction, automotive sectors, and general-purpose metalwork. The alloys, however, are susceptible to rusting. Therefore, protective measures such as paints and galvanization are needed. Different grades of carbon steel, including grades of low-carbon, medium-carbon, and high-carbon, are chosen based on the requirements of the task at hand.
